Hardwood boards that have a groove on one side and a protruding tongue on the other so that the tongue of one fits snugly into the groove of the other, nailed directly to the ceiling joists. The boards also have a protective finish. Assumes intricate ceiling configurations typical of high value homes such as skylights, cathedral, coffered, and domed ceilings.
