Wainscoting, Decorative Panel

A wall covering constructed from rigid or semi-rigid materials, traditionally interlocking wood boards, but could be plastic or other materials. The decorative panels and boards are typically applied to the lower 3 feet to 5 feet of an interior wall below a chair rail and above a baseboard or skirt board. It is traditionally constructed of tongue and groove board, though beadboard or decorative panels are also common. Wainscot or wainscoting may also refer to other materials used in a similar nature and purpose. Assumes custom designs and finishes as well as intricate partition configurations typical of high value homes. Note: In figuring the percentage, include both sides of the partitions and the inside surface of the exterior wall.
